HCOG reappoints chair; Steve Madrone named vice chair, Atkins Salazar named CalCOG delegate

The Humboldt County Association of Governments on Monday reappointed Chair Johnson and approved a slate of officers and delegates, including Steve Madrone as vice chair and Council member Atkins Salazar as the CalCOG representative.
The nominations were opened by the chair and accepted by voice; a motion to accept the nominees as appointed passed on a roll-call vote. Chair Johnson, Council member Napier, Supervisor Madrone, Mayor Bergell, Council member Atkins Salazar, Council member Jorgensen, Mayor Pro Tem Kenny, Council member Orr, PAC member Arroyo and PAC member Alstrand all voted yes.
The slate of appointments included a returning executive board member who volunteered to serve again; the board chair nominated that volunteer and the nomination was accepted as part of the single motion to confirm officers. The board held the vote on nominations as one consolidated motion to streamline the process.
Chair Johnson said she would be willing to continue in the role, and the board moved quickly to a roll call after nominations closed. The board then adjourned the HCOG board and reconvened as the Policy Advisory Committee for the remainder of the agenda.
No finance or policy changes were associated with the appointments; the votes were procedural confirmations of leadership and representation.
