Pottsgrove board approves routine business, personnel and education contracts; AI policy cleared

The Pottsgrove School District Board of School Directors approved a suite of routine business and education items during the meeting, including payment of invoices, personnel changes, student‑service contracts, conference attendance and a single policy revision on artificial intelligence.

On motions that carried unanimously, the board approved payment of invoices of $805,372.82 for November 2024 and $1,886,608.69 for December 2024. The board combined and approved personnel items 9.1 through 9.10, which include district staffing actions; board members congratulated Steve Paladino on his appointment as middle school principal, a move included in the combined personnel approvals.

Under education action items the board approved two confidential central agreements (agenda items 10.1 and 10.2), a student‑teacher placement (11.1), and a contract to bring Victim Services Center of Montgomery County into district classrooms (11.2). Board discussion noted the victim services lessons will target kindergarten through third grade with one 45‑minute lesson per classroom; the vendor asked for a $500 donation to support countywide services. The board approved combined conference attendance requests (11.3–11.6) and combined committee minutes and appointments (14.1–14.5).

On policies, district staff removed 13 policies that were tied to the 2024 Title IX regulations after a federal court vacated those rules; the board approved a single policy revision, 815.1, governing use of artificial intelligence. Board materials and staff clarified that other Title IX‑related changes will not proceed until legal guidance is resolved.

Motions passed by voice vote with board members indicating “aye” on each approval. The board recorded that eight members were present at roll call.
