Ector County Independent School District trustees on Jan. 21 received detailed progress reports on Bond 2023, including design work for a Career and Technical Education (CTE) center and a groundbreaking held last week for a new middle school in West Odessa.
The board heard that the CTE center has reached 50% completion of construction documents, a milestone that moves the project closer to a guaranteed maximum price from the district’s construction manager at risk and toward procurement. “We started off with the mission to design a high school that will serve 400 students every day,” said Ryan Merritt, executive director of Career and Technical Education, who led the CTE presentation. Merritt said the center is also being planned to serve approximately 2,000 CTE travelers each school day once satellite transportation is in place.
