A district staff member told the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees on Jan. 13 that year-to-date revenues exceeded expenditures as of Dec. 31, 2024.
The staff member said, “Our revenues ... are ahead,” reporting $52,900,000 in revenues and $33,300,000 in expenditures year to date as of Dec. 31, 2024. The presenter said revenues represented roughly 46.9% and expenditures roughly 24.7% of their respective budget measures.
The nut graf: The monthly financial report gave the board an update on the district's operating picture heading into the spring semester and flagged ongoing utility savings tied to an energy-efficiency project.
The presenter told trustees the district has saved about $62,000 from the district's energy-efficiency project for the early months measured (September and October) and said that figure is expected to increase as the school year continues. The staff member also said tax collections historically concentrate at month-end and reported the district was slightly behind after the first four months but expected to reach a 96% to 97% collection rate when most taxpayers pay later in January.
Board members asked no questions during the presentation. The district said the financial figures shown were from the management report labeled “as of December 31, 2024.” No changes to the budget or requests for supplemental appropriations were recorded in the meeting minutes for Jan. 13.
Ending: The district scheduled no further action on the report; the numbers were provided for trustee review and will be reflected in subsequent financial reports to the board.
