Committee staff clarifies mislabeled DCF report and outlines next-day witnesses

Committee staff clarified during the Committee on Corrections and Juvenile Justice meeting that a written juvenile crisis intervention report uploaded to the committee’s file had been mislabeled under the name of a different witness.
Miss Bauchner, committee staff, told members the annual juvenile crisis intervention-center report “that KSA 65536 directs the secretary for DCF to provide to the house committee on corrections” had been emailed to the committee-assistant account and uploaded for members to review, but was not slated for presentation that day. She said the department’s intended presentation for that day was a separate interim committee report that had not yet received committee approval and so the department was hesitant to present it.
Bauchner also told the committee to expect testimony the next day from Stephanie Uberl and from Deputy Secretary Milner of the Department of Corrections; she said the committee does not have Secretary Howard scheduled to present despite the presence of her report in uploaded files. Committee members asked staff to confirm which documents correspond to which hearing so they could prepare appropriately.
No formal committee action followed the clarification during the session.
