Chairman Mark Richardson told the Planning and Zoning Commission Jan. 22 that he has asked the city clerk to remove his name from consideration for reappointment and that the meeting would be his last.
Richardson, who has served multiple terms on the commission and held the chairmanship for roughly two-and‑a‑half years since the previous chair's passing, thanked staff and members and urged whoever assumes the chair to "respect the staff" and other participants. Planning staff and the city attorney publicly thanked Richardson for his service during the meeting.
Ending: The commission agreed to hold elections for officers at its next meeting in February, and commissioners commented they would miss Richardson's leadership.
