Trustee says mayor spearheaded several new Lynwood businesses; openings expected this month

Trustee Blakey on Jan. 14 updated the board on local economic‑development activity and credited Mayor Curry with leading negotiations for multiple new and returning businesses expected to open in Lynwood in coming weeks.
Blakey said BAM is under construction and "probably by the end of January they will be up and, functioning." He named several other projects mentioned in the discussion: Popin' Plates (taking over the Warsaw Inn site), Dollar General, an equestrian university, a car wash, a Fresh Market and a Dunkin' Donuts location.
Blakey told trustees, "Mayor Curry... has spearheaded all of the economic development that we have seen in this village over the last, 4 years." He asked the board and residents to recognize the mayor's active role in negotiating the contracts and deals tied to those projects.
The trustee said the Popin' Plates project is a reuse of the Warsaw Inn site after the previous owner retired and put the business up for sale. Blakey characterized the projects as adding value to the village through "creative opportunities" at the affected locations.
No formal votes were required for the report. Trustees later moved on to committee and administrative business.
