Brownwood ISD bond projects moving ahead; indoor facility, stadium and security upgrades reported

Dr. Young said the indoor facility is progressing, with the frame complete and roofing and wall panels being installed. Staff reported that work on several athletic facilities is scheduled for completion in August 2025 and that Phase 3—focused on the press box and home-side amenities—will begin after the current season.
Construction experienced short delays after a period of cold weather and rain; Dr. Young noted that concrete pours were postponed during those conditions. He also said that the stadium's lights and fields were finished first so games could proceed, but some areas may remain muddy and temporary facilities may be used.
The board heard that middle-school locker rooms have been demolished and excavated to about 3.5 feet below the old slab to allow new foundations. District staff also said they are finalizing the last phase of the security camera plan and finishing fencing at elementary campuses.
Miss Gray, who the superintendent credited with leading project coordination, attended the meeting for questions. No formal votes were recorded on bond items during this meeting; trustees will continue to receive construction updates.
