Rockport Fulton ISD finance staff presented the 2025-26 budget calendar and timeline to the Board of Trustees, telling board members the district will plan conservatively for no change in state funding while continuing to explore cost reductions in major expense categories such as insurance.
The calendar matters because the schedule sets public workshops and adoption timelines that determine when the district will set the tax rate and finalize spending priorities for the next school year.
Cathy Henderson (identified in the meeting as Miss Henderson) reviewed the calendar: the board's first budget workshop is set for June 17, 2025; an additional July workshop is planned; staff will hold a final preliminary budget workshop in early August; and the board is scheduled to adopt the budget and tax rate on Aug. 28, 2025. Henderson said district staff and the superintendent had already begun planning in the fall and would assume no new legislative funding unless the Texas Legislature acts favorably. She also said the district is reviewing insurance and other major expense lines for possible reductions.
Board members asked clarifying questions about timing and staff said they will set the July and August workshop dates in the spring and provide materials in advance. No formal action was taken; the presentation was informational and is intended to guide the district's calendar for public budget work.
