Court approves final and annual guardianship accountings; sets deadline to transfer conservatorship assets

The Lenawee County Probate & Juvenile Court on record approved an eighth and final accounting in a conservatorship matter, approved the second through fourth annual accountings in a separate guardian file for Sean Slater, and directed the conservator to transfer remaining assets to an estate by a court-set date or seek additional time.

Court staff noted that a proof of service and a guardian ad litem waiver were missing from one file; counsel confirmed waivers had been filed previously but that the documents were not located in the court file. Deputy Danes administered oaths for testimony where required.

Barb Foote confirmed that interested parties had been given notice for the eighth and final accounting and told the court that assets existed but had not yet been transferred. The court approved the eighth and final accounting and permitted time for transfer, giving the conservator until Feb. 22 to complete those transfers and instructing counsel to file a formal request if more time is needed.

In a separate matter, the court considered the second, third and fourth annual accountings for Sean Slater (file number 034294dd). Michael McFarlane appeared as attorney and guardian. McFarlane and others identified a filed waiver stamped Dec. 3, 2024, for the prior annual accountings; the court found notice to interested parties adequate and signed to approve the accountings.

Counsel and court staff were directed to resolve any missing paper records with the clerk's office. No objections to the accountings were recorded on the hearing transcript.
