The Lenawee County Probate & Juvenile Court on record granted a petition to open probate for the estate of Moises Aguilera and appointed his surviving spouse, Feliciana Lopez, as personal representative.
The petition, presented by attorney Jennifer Fracassi on behalf of Lopez, said the decedent died April 5, 2024, and did not leave a will. Fracassi told the court that all interested parties had been served, no objections had been filed and that notice of the hearing had been published in the appropriate legal notice for Lenawee County.
The court recorded that there was an insurance settlement check payable to the estate and that no other parties were contesting the asset. The court found that supervised administration was not required and that no bond would be necessary. "It will be the order of the court that petition is granted with the findings as articulated by the court on record," the court said, and signed the order and letters of authority.
Rosa Gomez, a legal assistant who assisted with translation for Lopez on the Zoom call, and Mark Cantu, a paralegal for the law office handling the matter, were present by video. The court offered to take testimony but Fracassi declined to present additional testimony after noting the procedural filings were in order.
The court closed the matter by instructing parties to follow up with the clerk's office for issued documents. No objections or competing claims to the named asset were recorded at the hearing.
