Courtney Jackson, chair of the Albuquerque Public Schools Audit Committee, opened the meeting Jan. 21 with roll-call votes to adopt the agenda and approve minutes, and the committee later voted to convene an executive session.
Board member Heather Benavides moved to adopt the Jan. 21, 2025 Audit Committee meeting agenda; Josefina Dominguez seconded. Doctor Albright conducted a roll-call vote: Heather Benavides, Josefina Dominguez, Sarah Shanka McCoy, Savannah Visaraga, Renette Apodaca, Gabriela Blakey and Courtney Jackson all voted "yes." The motion to adopt the agenda carried by roll call.
Benavides then moved to approve the minutes from the Nov. 12, 2024 Audit Committee meeting; Dominguez seconded. Doctor Albright again called the roll; the listed members voted "yes" and the minutes were approved by roll-call vote.
Later in the meeting, Benavides moved that the Board of Education convene an executive session as authorized by the Public Meetings Act, section 10-15-1(H)(2), "to discuss limited personnel matters in connection with activity fund audits." Dominguez seconded. Doctor Albright conducted another roll call; the same members recorded "yes" votes. The motion to convene an executive session carried.
Courtney Jackson instructed non-participants to leave the meeting for the executive session and noted that streaming would resume once the committee reconvened to open session.
