Middle-school production previews Frozen Junior; NEASC team praises high school community and curriculum alignment

The Committee heard two community updates Tuesday: a live preview from Galvin Middle School students performing in Frozen Junior, and a report on the recent NEASC accreditation visit to Wakefield Memorial High School.
A classroom contingent from Galvin Middle School introduced themselves and described the school production of Frozen Junior, which the director Elton Knupp said includes “over a 120” students on and behind the stage. Students playing Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and other roles described the production as a “magical” and welcoming experience; Knupp invited the public to attend performances Jan. 23–26 and noted tickets are available online and at the door.
Superintendent Amy Lyons and curriculum staff reported that a visiting NEASC team completed a comprehensive visit to the high school. Lyons said the team complimented curriculum realignment work and the district's educational plan for the new building. She said NEASC emphasized the school's sense of community and the presence of trusted adults: “They were very pleased with the educational plan that went into the building,” Lyons said, and visitors repeatedly highlighted students feeling “known and cared for.” The administration expects a formal NEASC report in the coming weeks.
