He said the shoreland update will require Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) review and possible back‑and‑forth to ensure the ordinance meets state shoreland rules. Jacobson said the county typically receives about $2,900 every two years through the state Natural Resources Block Grant for shoreland activities; this year the block grant allocation for shoreland work increased (the transcript cites roughly $4,000, or about $8,400 over two years), and he proposed using a portion to pay SRF for the shoreland work.
Commissioner Bair moved to approve Amendment No. 1 with SRF Consulting for $2,988; Commissioner Kranoff seconded and the board approved the motion by oral vote. Jacobson said staff may schedule a work session for the board to review redline summaries and to allow planning commission input before final adoption.
