County clerk: Cascade Pacific Action Alliance merged into Choice; councils dissolved in 2022

Thurston County clerk staff told commissioners on Jan. 22 that the Cascade Pacific Action Alliance (CPAA) merged with its parent organization, Choice, and that the CPAA's board dissolved its councils effective Dec. 31, 2022.
Commissioner Grant had asked about the status of the CPAA after being assigned to that external board. Amy in the clerk's office said the county queried CPAA in 2023 and learned the Alliance no longer exists because of the merger and board action. She said the CPAA "dissolved all councils connected to the Cascade Pacific Action Alliance as of Dec. 31, 2022."
Commissioners said the clerk's research resolved the question about the county's representation on that board; one commissioner noted a county representative had served when the alliance was active. The discussion did not result in a motion or vote to create a replacement council; commissioners said they would monitor whether a replacement forum or similar regional convening was needed for issues such as Medicaid policy and provider coordination.
The clerk's response in the meeting provides the county's record about membership status but does not indicate any new county action taken that day.
