Clay County adopts resolution to enroll qualifying part‑time deputies in PERA police and fire fund

The Clay County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 21 approved Resolution 2025‑06 authorizing the county to enroll qualifying part‑time deputies into the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) police and fire fund.
Anna Moore, Human Resources Director, told the board Clay County currently has six eligible variable‑hour deputies and that three of the six are already enrolled in the PERA police and fire fund. Moore said an updated resolution was required because the prior resolution from 2021 listed individual deputy names rather than the position; the updated resolution enrolls the position class rather than specific employees.
Moore told the board there would be no additional budget cost because the positions are already budgeted. Commissioner Amiger asked for confirmation that there were no hidden costs; Moore replied that was correct. Commissioner Amiger moved to approve Resolution 2025‑06; Commissioner Eppinger seconded and the motion carried by voice vote.
Staff will file the new resolution with PERA to ensure enrollment and compliance for qualifying part‑time deputies.
