Clay County approves final vouchers totaling $5.07 million for two mill‑and‑overlay projects

Knife River Materials was the contractor; the board approved a final payment of $3,636,942.12, lower than the original bid of $3,672,363.40. Commissioner Bair recused from that agenda item, as recorded in the meeting.
Commissioner Ebinger moved to approve the final voucher for SAP 014‑626‑032; Commissioner Kravanoff seconded and the motion carried by voice vote.
Sorum then presented the final voucher for SAP 014‑601‑8, the paving project on Cassaw 1 from Cassaw 20 to Cassaw 26, completed by RJ Zavoral & Sons. The board approved the final payment of $1,437,053.47; the original bid was $1,460,229.73. Commissioner Kravanoff moved approval and Commissioner Bair seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
Board members praised the quality of the projects and noted the lower final amounts versus original bids. The county will record the approved final vouchers in its contract payment records and ensure recusals are noted where applicable.
