The board said the contract became necessary because Exeter Hospital Occupational Health Services is closing or reducing services, leaving town employees who require pre‑hire, random DOT, or other occupational testing without a provider. Fire Department staff member Katarina and Lieutenant Daugherty worked on identifying a replacement, and the town has already used the vendor for a pair of recent tests.
The agreement is a service contract with monthly invoicing for tests the town sends. Select Board member Andy moved to sign the contract; Letty seconded. The board took a roll‑call vote and approved the contract with all board members present voting in favor. Select Board members noted the contract contains indemnification language and an automatic‑renewal trigger; they asked the town administrator to track the renewal date.
Select Board member Paul said he would review the indemnification clause more closely; town staff confirmed the provider also serves other regional hospitals and occupational health centers. The chair thanked Katarina and Lieutenant Daugherty for arranging the contract and noted the town will use Elliott as the center for occupational health services going forward.
