MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Morgantown City Manager and Public Works staff updated council on winter operations at the Jan. 21 meeting, reporting on street plowing, how residents may report missed service, and salt inventory.
Staff said crews continue clearing streets during cold weather and urged residents to report missed plowing during daytime via Public Works phone lines. Public Works provided two daytime contact numbers: 304-284-7412 and 304-291-7465; after-hours problems should be reported through SeeClickFix. Council members confirmed the second number (304-291-7465) as the preferred daytime contact.
Public Works reported an inventory of about 500 tons of treated salt and about 1,000 tons of regular salt on hand and said a contract reserve of up to 1,000 tons is available if needed. Staff said they expect supplies will be sufficient for the remainder of the season. A seasonal salt shed in Star City has not yet been put into use because construction and weather issues delayed completion.
Councilors thanked crew members for plowing during difficult conditions and noted ongoing coordination with state road crews. No changes to snow-removal policy or additional appropriations were proposed during the meeting.
