Shawnee — The City Commission awarded a construction contract on Jan. 20 for the North Midland Addition water-line replacement to NPL Construction for the base bid of $387,265.45.
Public works staff said nine bids were received at the Jan. 14 opening and staff and the design consultant recommended NPL Construction as the lowest responsive bidder. The project will replace existing mains with an 8-inch poly main (internal diameter similar to a 6-inch mainline, per staff) and is funded through the citys state ARPA allocation as part of the capital improvement plan.
Staff said several recent projects have come in below engineer estimates and the city has been able to incorporate additional work into the CIP as a result. Commissioners approved the award by unanimous vote.
The contract amount cited in the meeting was the base bid only; packet notes show the project is part of the city's CIP and funded by state ARPA; staff said utility relocations and right-of-way acquisitions are underway for related capital projects.
