CONCORD — House Bill 301, a proposal to permit Alternative Treatment Centers (ATCs) to operate additional cultivation locations including greenhouses, was the subject of a public hearing before the House Committee on Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs.
Sponsor Representative Suzanne Vail (Nashua) said the bill would allow ATCs to grow cannabis in greenhouses — still in enclosed, locked structures and subject to local zoning and DHHS rules — so producers can use natural sunlight and reduce energy bills that are passed to patients. “Greenhouse cultivation is more economical,” Vail said, adding that greenhouse-grown plants sometimes produce different cannabinoid or terpene profiles.
