CRA approves Broward College extension and increases Aldridge/Larimore development incentives

Agency staff reported the scholarship component (up to 200 residents) had not yet been fully deployed because final build-out work at the YMCA was completed in 2023 and program ramp-up followed; Broward College representatives said they have recently stood up classes and will intensify outreach to CRA residents. The board approved the extension on a roll call (all commissioners present voted yes).
The board also approved an increase of the development incentive/forgivable-loan pool for Invest Fort Lauderdale Inc. from $8 million to $9 million to support the Aldridge and Larimore affordable housing projects on Sistrunk Boulevard and adjacent blocks. Staff explained the increase reflects inflation and updated financing needs; the projects are using a layered capital stack including 4% low-income housing tax‑credit financing and county funding. The resolution passed on a roll call vote (unanimous among those present).
