Votes at a glance: Washington County commissioners approve Expo rentals, subdivision variance, minutes and $798,870.88 in accounts payable

Washington County Commissioner's Court approved several administrative and land-use items on Jan. 21, 2025, including three expo rental contracts, corrections to December 2024 minutes, a subdivision variance affecting a 49.492-acre tract, and accounts payable totaling $798,870.88.

Expo rentals: The court considered three pending Washington County Expo rental and regulations contracts — for a celebration of life, a running show, and a quinceañera — and approved them in a single voice vote that also authorized the judge to sign the contracts.

Minutes: The court approved amended minutes for December 2024 that, per the clerk’s report, will include changes described by the county engineer (including awarding the rail yard contract to J Logistics as primary and moving another award to alternate) plus updated job-description text and pay-range nomenclature that were missing from the packet.

Subdivision variance: The court approved a subdivision variance to divide approximately 49.492 acres at the Salem Road and FM 3456 intersection (John Carrington survey, tract 27A-0120, Precinct 2). The proposal would split the parcel into three smaller tracts (two roughly 1.744 acres and one roughly 3.314 acres containing the existing facility and on-site sewage facilities). County staff said TxDOT had been notified about the proposed lot fronting the FM road and that an existing driveway would be used.

Accounts payable: The court approved accounts payable totaling $798,870.88; the clerk read the total amount into the record and the court approved the payment by voice vote.

Each item was approved by voice vote; the clerk recorded the motions as carried.
