Washington County commissioners approved a suite of tourism, event and marketing expenditures aimed at supporting major sporting events and continuing the county’s visitor marketing efforts.
The commission renewed an independent contract with Pop Rock Design for consulting and graphic design services (resolution R-2025-3430) to support visitor guides, advertising and brand work. "She has continued to make us look good," the tourism staff presenter said of the contractor.
Commissioners approved $100,000 in tourism‑related (TRT) funding for Copper Rock Golf Course to support two Epson Tour events — the Copper Rock Championship and the Legends Championship — scheduled in May. Tourism staff said the Legends (senior championship) carries a purse of "a little over $400,000," and that golf‑related economic activity in the county has been growing; staff estimated county golf economic impact last year near $150 million and this year trending toward $170–180 million as reporting completes.
The commission also approved a $10,000 TRT marketing award to GRO Promotions LLC for the True Grit endurance mountain bike event, which organizers say fields roughly 800 racers over three days, many coming from outside the county.
Separately, commissioners voted to enter an interlocal cooperation agreement with the Utah Department of Natural Resources to secure San Hollow State Park and Snow Canyon State Park for the Ironman 70.3 North American Championship swim and bike courses in May; the agreement formalizes state park staffing, closures and county reimbursement for those costs (R-2025-3434).
The county also approved a digital advertising package with Meeting Planners International (MPI) to target meeting planners, a one‑year campaign with 250,000 guaranteed impressions for about $10,005 (R-2025-3435).
All measures were approved by motion and voice vote.
