Several speakers noted that swing-shift and emergency staff do not receive the same day off and that those employees continue to work holidays and receive the applicable compensation for working those shifts. One sheriff’s office speaker asked the board to ensure the department’s staff would not lose holiday pay; board members confirmed the decision recognizes the two days for courthouse offices and said compensation for 24/7 staff would remain governed by existing rules and contracts.
The motion to set the courthouse holiday schedule to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
