Council interviews three applicants for new Parks and Recreation Board; appointments delayed to solicit more candidates

The Robinson City Council conducted pre-appointment interviews with three applicants for the newly created Parks and Recreation Board and agreed to delay final appointments until the Feb. 4 council meeting to allow additional applicants to apply.

Council members asked each candidate a standard set of questions. The first applicant, identified in the record as Miss Ferguson, said she serves as executive director of Keep It Good Beautiful and described experience running beautification projects in cooperation with municipal departments and volunteers. Ferguson told the council she has worked on grant-writing and fundraising and said, "I've received over $300,000 between sponsorships and grant writing," adding she would be willing to help form a local "Keep Robinson Beautiful" group and to marshal volunteer effort and university…
