The Southborough Cultural Arts Council discussed a roughly $200 shortfall in its Massachusetts Cultural Council grant fund, approved minutes for its Dec. 3 and Dec. 11 meetings and set planning goals for a spring grant reception during a Zoom meeting that began about 7:05 p.m. and adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
The council’s accounting review found that about $200 had been encumbered to a prior-year award, leaving the current grant fund short of the amount the panel had budgeted. “So in other words…we are $200 short,” said Kate Heisner, member of the Southborough Cultural Arts Council. Heisner said the council has about $1,500 in a separate discretionary Cultural Arts Council fund and proposed using roughly $200 of that money to cover the shortage so grantees receive their full awards without a special re-vote.
