Commerce council calls May 3 election for mayor, sets filing and early-voting dates

Assistant City Manager for Community Services Miss Jacobson reviewed statutory and charter requirements. She said the filing period opened Jan. 15 and closes Feb. 14; the last day to register to vote for the May 3 election is April 3. Early voting is scheduled April 22–28 at City Hall, and the city will host early voting and serve as a polling place on election day. Miss Jacobson said the seat is currently held by Mayor Teddy Riehl and that candidate packets are available at City Hall.
The council approved the ordinance by voice vote.
