The Board of County Commissioners approved a midyear budget amendment to increase sheriff’s‑office overtime budgets for sworn law enforcement and corrections after staff reported the accounts would otherwise be overdrawn through June 30.
Finance staff said the sheriff’s office had vacancies that lowered salary expenses but increased overtime spending; the department had set up tracking codes to distinguish overtime types and to show where expenditures were concentrated. Cudmore and the sheriff’s office presented the attachment showing current year overtime totals and projections.
Motion and approval. During the work session a commissioner moved to approve the budget amendment as presented; another commissioner seconded and the board approved the adjustment by voice vote. Staff will carry out the accounting realignment and bring the formal documentation for signature.
Ending: The amendment restores available funding to the overtime accounts; staff and the sheriff will continue monitoring vacancies and overtime and will present quarterly salary/OT updates.
