Board of trustees seeks to remove “Teachers” from supplemental retirement plans name (HB 144)

Bell said the board appreciates that Chair Barnes sponsored the legislation and that removing the word “Teachers” from the board and agency title would clarify that the supplemental retirement plans are not exclusive to teachers. She told members the change would provide better clarity for state employees and others who might otherwise assume the plans apply only to teachers. Bell offered to answer committee questions; none were recorded and the bill hearing concluded.
