Snyder City Council approves equipment purchases, interlocal and development agreements; several items unanimous

Snyder City — The Snyder City Council on Jan. 6 approved multiple equipment purchases, two interlocal/performance agreements and the city’s November financial report, with all recorded votes taken as unanimous.
Council members first approved the minutes of the Dec. 2, 2024 regular meeting without comment. The council then voted to approve the purchase of a Caterpillar 938 wheel loader for the landfill (department 31) through a Sourcewell contract with Warren Cat for $307,650, with trade-in credit applied. The council approved an additional Caterpillar 938 wheel loader — presented as a replacement for a backhoe in the water distribution/maintenance operation — at the same price and trade-in arrangement. The council also approved the purchase of a Caterpillar 299D3 skid steer through the Sourcewell contract for $121,500 for department 25; staff noted the item was budgeted at $170,000 but the purchase price came in lower.
The council approved the STAR (juvenile boot camp) program update and accepted a performance agreement between the City of Snyder and the Development Corporation of Snyder Inc. to rebuild roads in the industrial park area. Council later approved a mutual-aid fire protection and rescue agreement between the City of Snyder and Garza County and accepted a performance agreement between the Development Corporation of Snyder and Wall Concrete/Wall Construction companies after an executive session.
The council also approved the November monthly financial report. The report presented revenues and expenditures for November and showed a small deficit for the month as presented to the council.
Several items were discussed but tabled or left for future action: council members received a set of guidelines related to a vacancy on the Skerry County Appraisal District Board of Directors and elected to consider nominations at the February meeting (Item tabled). An executive-session consultation on a public-publicity and tourism agreement with the Snyder Chamber of Commerce concluded with no action.
All votes recorded in the meeting transcript were taken by voice/raised hand and recorded as unanimous in favor where a motion and second were recorded.
