Steve Atha, presenter, summarized the district’s December 2024 financial statements at the Jan. 21 meeting, reporting an opening cash balance near $356 million, total cash receipts for the month of about $43 million and an ending balance of $335,629,887.
Atha said the report covers primarily the general fund and includes agency funds and grants but does not include school food, capital projects, debt service or workers’ compensation cash. He told the board that ad valorem (property) tax collections were about 97% of budgeted amounts and that QBE state grant receipts are tracking at roughly 50% year-to-date, leaving the system having collected “almost 71 percent of the total expected revenue for the fiscal year.”
He also summarized portions of the district’s fund reporting: debt service cash available of $65,906,950; special revenue funds driven largely by IDEA and other federal grants; capital projects cash and school food service account balances were described but specific capital project balances and other line items were noted in the packet rather than read in full during the presentation.
Board members asked if figures were tracking compared with last year; Atha said the numbers were “very comparable.” He closed the presentation and accepted no substantive questions. The figures and detailed schedules are included in the board packet for members and will be available for public review of the December financial statements.
