Kittitas Valley Fire & Rescue leaders introduce new deputy chief, plan citizen advisory group

Fire Chief DJ Goldsmith introduced himself and Deputy Chief Chris Moen to the Ellensburg City Council at the start of the Jan. 20 meeting and asked for cooperation between the city and Kittitas Valley Fire & Rescue.
"We want to be good partners with you all and really value your opinion," Goldsmith said, announcing that in the coming months KVFR will convene a citizen advisory group and stakeholders to help develop a long-term strategic plan for the department. He asked council members and community members to watch the department's social media channels for notices about participation.
Deputy Chief Chris Moen, a 30-year KVFR employee, said he looks forward to the role and encouraged residents to contact the department with questions. Moen said he is "not new to the area" and will work to continue services provided under previous leadership.
No action was taken; the remarks were presented as an informational introduction and an invitation to participate in future advisory work.
