Council approves appointments, 2025 lodging-tax allocations and a renewed tourism contract

Appointments: the council appointed Anne Minor to the Public Transit Advisory Committee and reappointed Brenda DeVore to the Environmental Commission. Anne Minor introduced herself as a Rosslyn resident and local business owner who is a regular transit user. Brenda DeVore said she looks forward to continuing work on bicycle-friendly community goals, recycling ideas and a community-wide bike-recycling event.
Lodging tax allocations: the council adopted Resolution 202501, approving the allocation and distribution of the city's 2025 lodging-tax funds. Arts and economic development manager Kelly Vandenberg told the council the city's 2025 lodging-tax allocation is $97,595.29 under the countywide consolidated process. Council discussion addressed administrative questions and the consolidated interlocal approach; no public comment was offered. The motion to adopt the resolution passed by voice vote.
Professional services agreement (Chamber): the council approved a 2025 professional services agreement with the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce to provide tourism marketing, visitor-center operations and related data collection. The renewed contract includes enhanced data-gathering metrics and a contract-cost increase tied to rising costs, staff said. Amy McGuffin, president and CEO of the chamber, described plans to use an "event impact calculator" and to focus on both social and traditional media tracking. The council authorized the city manager to sign the agreement.
Consent agenda: the council approved the consent agenda by motion earlier in the meeting.
