County highway department to advertise Feb. 17 bids for pipe, asphalt and CCMG overlays

“We will advertise for bid dates February 17th, which will include stone pipes, structure pipe, fuel, and asphalt,” Howard said. He described combining CCMG project ccmg20.4-2 with other overlay and resurfacing work and said the department will follow the same approach used last year where appropriate.
Howard also described survey and inspection work related to a bridge scheduled for rebuilding this year. He said some local roads have load restrictions and one bridge requires a full replacement that the highway department intends to do in-house, adding that soil sampling and pile-driving tests are planned to verify alignment and foundation work.
Separately, Howard raised a facilities-maintenance matter: the county lacks a soft-water system at some buildings, and the highway/facilities team is gathering formal bids for chemical treatment and boiler-system maintenance, including a quoted annual cost and a one-time filter-install charge from a vendor. “This is for chemical treatment for the boiler system for any kind of scaling,” Howard said; he asked to return with a formal bid comparison.
