Council expands nonresident seats and appoints three to Recreation Commission
Summary

Staff said the municipal-code change increased the permissible number of nonresident commissioners (previously limited to two) to three after interviews showed strong candidates who live outside city limits. At a prior meeting the council interviewed four applicants for three seats and determined additional interviews were unnecessary.
Council Member [nomination occurred on the record] nominated Stephanie Hogan, and another council member amended the motion to include Matthew Showalter and Dan Bauer. The council voted and the three nominees were appointed; the council confirmed terms would be three years.
Staff and council members welcomed the new commissioners and encouraged them to prepare proposals for recreation programs and facilities; several council members praised the candidates’ preparedness at the interview stage.
