The Brandon City Council approved several water- and sewer-related contract actions and pay applications during the meeting.
Change order number 1 for the Big Suit drainage repair project was approved; staff reported the increase was just under $1,300 and reflected minor miscellaneous items such as landscaping around a lift station, moving plants, a manhole marker, and additional wattles requested by Game, Fish and Parks. The council approved the change order and a final pay application for that project.
The water treatment plant project advanced; council approved pay application number 26 as the project nears completion. Staff said mid-March was the target to have the plant running pending testing and equipment deliveries.
On the Sioux Falls force main project, the council approved a change order of $60,825 for cathodic protection work that staff described as a plan error (missed element in the plans). Staff said the contractor would have been paid for the work even if it had been included in the plans; the change order was approved after a roll call vote was recorded. Council also approved pay applications 5 through 7 related to that project.
Staff reported pipe boring is nearly complete; a number of obstructions were encountered, but the project is moving toward open-cut installation where needed. The actions were recorded as approved.
