City Council on first, second and final readings approved two ordinances vacating sanitary-sewer easements within the Towne East Minor Subdivision, returning the rights to the underlying property owners.
The two ordinances — Bill 25-3 (VACA 25001) and Bill 25-4 (VACA 25002) — remove a 5,928-square-foot easement affecting lots 1 and 2 and an 8,118-square-foot easement affecting lots 1 and 3, respectively. Both measures passed on final passage by recorded voice/roll-call votes that the clerk summarized as motion carries 8-0.
City staff said the easements are currently unused for construction or maintenance of sanitary-sewer infrastructure and recommended approval. "The City of Republic is requesting the vacation of approximately 5,928 square feet of sanitary sewer easement located in lots 1 and 2 of the Towne East Minor Subdivision," Associate City Planner Patrick Ruiz said when introducing the first ordinance. He also described the second easement as unused and recommended approval for that request as well.
Under the actions, the rights associated with the two easements will revert to the property owners named in the ordinance titles: Towne East Center LLC (owner of developed lot 1) and Blue Current Credit Union (owner of the vacant lot 2 noted in the first ordinance); the second ordinance lists both applicable lots as owned by Towne East Center LLC.
City staff said there were no public comments on either item. After staff presentation and the usual public-notice and planning steps identified by staff, council members moved and seconded the measures and the council called for final passage. The clerk announced roll-call tallies and recorded the measures as carried 8-0.
