County staff review 2025-26 insurance renewal application; several deductibles and events noted

Julie Zipperian of Centennial Insurance summarized the renewal application and told commissioners she had worked with department heads to collect the information. She noted the new sheriffs building (impound yard) is listed but not yet added because construction is incomplete. Zipperian read several policy details, including property and liability deductibles and that Phil Malone remains the county safety coordinator.

Zipperian asked the board to confirm events the county sponsors that should be covered under the policy, including the Townsend Farmers Market and Broadwater Rodeo and Fair Parade; commissioners asked staff to verify whether the Lions Easter Egg Hunt is county sponsored this year.
Items highlighted by the agent included deductibles (property $2,000; auto physical damage $25,100; crime $2,000; general liability $2,000; errors and omissions $5,000) and special liabilities such as zoning commission liability and floodplain enforcement liability with $10,000 deductibles. The agent agreed to follow up with an explanation of the zoning commission liability item before the Jan. 29 meeting.
Next steps: Commissioners asked staff to confirm the county-sponsored events list and requested the agent provide clarification about zoning-commission-related liability coverage ahead of formal approval on Jan. 29.
