The Broadwater County Commission approved a four-year standard lease contract between Broadwater County and the Montana Department of Justice Motor Vehicle Division to allow DMV staff to provide weekly services in the county courthouse.
County staff said the DMV operates in the courthouse one day each week (Thursdays) and the county does not charge rent for the space. The lease term approved by the commission runs from Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2029, unless terminated for reasons specified in the contract.
Commissioners noted the service is valuable to residents who otherwise would have to travel to Helena or Bozeman for DMV transactions; county staff maintain a web link for residents to schedule appointments for the local service. The motion to approve the lease passed by voice vote with no public comment.
The commission directed county staff to keep the public informed via the county website and appointment link.
