Broadwater County commissioners elect Rick Meyer chair, Randolph vice chair

The Broadwater County Commission elected Commissioner Rick Meyer as chair and Commissioner Randolph as vice chair during its organizational session on Jan. 8, 2025. The commission also introduced newly seated Commissioner Jesse Swanson.
The vote followed a motion to appoint Meyer as chair, which was made from the floor and seconded; commissioners then voted by voice and the motion carried. The commission repeated the same process to elect Randolph as vice chair and approved that appointment by voice vote.
The introductions and officer elections took place at the start of the meeting, immediately after the Pledge of Allegiance and public comment period. Commissioners noted this was the chair’s first meeting to preside and asked for patience as procedures were followed.
No public comments were offered on the officer elections.
The commission moved on to the first substantive agenda items — a surplus-property resolution for the county search-and-rescue group — after completing the officer elections.
