Personnel committee approves one-year insurance renewal for $465,724.03

The Allegany County Personnel Committee approved a one-year insurance renewal with Gallagher Risk Management Services, placing coverage through Niemier, a New York municipal insurance reciprocal, for Feb. 1, 2025, through Feb. 1, 2026, at a total cost of $465,724.03, committee members said on Jan. 8, 2025.

The renewal matter was presented by Brenda Rigby Raley, clerk of the board, who asked the committee to adopt a resolution approving the Gallagher proposal. County staff said the county solicited quotes and that the renewal does not require a formal bidding process for professional services. Chase Tascone, an insurance agent with Gallagher Risk Management Services, said the year-over-year increase was under 1 percent.

Brenda Rigby Raley opened the agenda discussion by introducing Gallagher’s agent and requesting a resolution to approve the proposed policy placement. The county administrator explained that the county does not have to run a formal bid for professional services and that staff periodically obtains quotes before renewing such agreements.
