Warren County Human Services Committee appoints youth board members, adds Glens Falls representative

The Warren County Human Services Committee approved appointments to the Warren County Youth Board on Jan. 21, 2025, including an additional youth representative from Glens Falls.

The committee voted unanimously to appoint the candidates listed by county youth bureau staff to three-year terms that, according to the bureau, are allowable under the board’s bylaws. "The only request that I have today is to to appoint members to the youth board," said Sue, a representative of the Warren County Youth Bureau, adding the board’s role is "primarily about the youth dollars that come from the state called the youth development program funding, youth sports opportunity, education funding, and youth team sports funding." She said the youth board meets four times a year and allocates those funds.

Committee members moved the item to the floor with one amendment: including Jack Sweet, a youth who also serves on the governor’s statewide youth council, and the committee approved the full slate with that addition. Supervisor Runyon moved the motion; Supervisor Turner seconded. The committee chair called for the vote and members responded "aye," with no opposition noted.

Why it matters: the youth board allocates state youth-development and sports-related funds that affect local programming and youth services across Warren County. Appointments determine who helps set priorities for distributing those funds.
