County moves to recognize DEC/EFC septic replacement funding and secures regional reimbursement for grant administration

County planning staff asked supervisors to recognize previously awarded septic replacement grant funds and to accept a regional planning reimbursement for administering certain grants tied to the Lake Champlain Basin.
The board moved to add approximately $200,000 in round‑4 funding to the county’s 2024 budget so the existing grant pipeline and previously approved applications can be completed; staff said eligibility maps and targeted water bodies changed between rounds so the county adopted the revised list in late 2023 and now needs formal budget recognition.
Separately, the Capital District regional planning board received funding to reimburse county administrative time spent on septic grant administration for eligible Lake Champlain Basin projects; Washington County’s share is $12,000 for 2025 and $12,000 for 2026, payable against time sheets documenting administration of eligible projects. Staff said the regional board will administer the reimbursement and counties will submit time records. The board approved an MOU directing the regional planning board to reimburse county staff time on eligible projects and accepted waivers required for administration.
Supervisors moved both items forward to finance for budget amendment and accepted the regional planning reimbursement arrangement; no new applicant approvals were taken at the meeting.
