Dinwiddie School Board elects Mary Benjamin chair, fills clerk and designee posts

The board also reappointed Bonnie Golsan as clerk of the board and Hannah Burnett as deputy clerk, with a stated $1,200 annual supplement for the deputy clerk to be set at contract renewal.
The board approved superintendent Keri Weston’s recommendations for designees: Amanda Clay was named the designee to attend meetings in the superintendent’s absence, and Amanda Clay and Bonnie Golsan were named designees authorized to sign documents when the superintendent is absent. Votes on the appointments were taken by voice and carried without recorded roll-call tallies in the transcript.
The board opened the meeting by certifying a preceding closed session under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and Code of Virginia §2.2-3712; each member verbally certified compliance before moving to open session and beginning the organizational business.
Members congratulated the newly elected chair and vice chair and moved on to adopt meeting housekeeping items later in the agenda.
Looking ahead, the board approved its advisory-board appointments and the calendar of regular meetings for 2025 at the same session; those items were handled later in the organizational portion of the meeting and carried on voice votes.
