The School Committee on Jan. 14 received an overview of staff wellness programming and a plan for a full professional development day devoted to staff wellness on May 23.
Mrs. McGuire outlined current offerings provided through the district’s Interlocal Trust membership—Health Matters challenges (walking challenge, incentives), the Coastline EAP program with a local Warwick office and six sessions per issue, and Blue 365 discounts available through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island. She also noted RIDE’s Well (Wellness and Education Leads to Learning) initiative and resource hub.
"The biggest thing we're really excited about though is, for this year is that, under Dr. Kenworthy's leadership this year, we're able to devote a full PD day to staff health and wellness, by hosting a district wide health and wellness fair. That's going to be on May 23rd," Mrs. McGuire said. The committee heard the district plans keynote and breakout sessions, vendor coordination with the Interlocal Trust, Coastline, ERSRI and financial wellness providers, and a role for the district’s “happiness person” as keynote.
Committee members supported continuing the programs and asked for updates in March and May as planning progresses.
