Open Space Conservancy Trust accepts Inkstrom Open Space title transfer from the City of Mercer Island

The Mercer Island Open Space Conservancy Trust formally accepted transfer of Inkstrom Open Space from the City of Mercer Island at its Jan. 16 meeting, authorizing the chair to sign all associated documentation before county recording.
Parks Operations Manager Sam Harb told trustees staff and outside counsel finalized the title documents and verified legal descriptions. "We've been finalizing the documents, working with an outside attorney, and double checking property lines," Harb said, and recommended the trust accept the transfer so staff can submit the deed to King County.
Trustees moved and seconded the acceptance and the trust approved the motion by unanimous roll-call vote. Staff said they will submit the finalized paperwork to the county for recording.
The action implements a City Council resolution from 2022 directing the transfer of the Inkstrom parcel to the trust; staff said the paperwork was completed in 2024 and ready for the trust's formal acceptance at this meeting.
