District staff: E‑rate bids submitted; reimbursement rate may rise to 80%

Quakertown Community School District staff told the Communications Technology Committee on Jan. 21 that bids for an equipment listing posted through the federal E‑rate program were due last week and are under review.
Mr. Cuzzo of Delmatics, who briefed the committee on the bidding process, said he will meet the E‑rate consultant to evaluate the bids and produce the required rating matrix and recommendation. "All those bids were due last week. Tomorrow, I have a meeting with the consultant to go through the provided bids, and there's a rating matrix you have to do and then, award a bid," he said.
Cuzzo said the consultant indicated the district’s reimbursement rate could rise from 50% to about 80%, though the consultant must file to confirm the final percentage. "The good news on that is, we were told, and I don't know the rationale, she just mentioned, she believes it's due to the CEP, that our reimbursement rate went from 50 to 80%." He said the district's E‑rate “bucket” is about $546,000; the equipment project being considered is "probably about $850,000," which would make roughly two‑thirds of the project reimbursable if the 80% figure holds.
No formal procurement decision occurred at the committee meeting; staff are reviewing bids and will present a recommendation after evaluating responses and completing the rating matrix required by the E‑rate program.
Committee members asked procedural questions about the timeline and next steps; staff said they will return with the consultant’s formal recommendation when the rating work is complete.
