Quakertown panel to present communications director candidate for board approval

The Communications Technology Committee of Quakertown Community School District heard Jan. 21 that a finalist for the district’s director of communications will be brought to the full school board for approval at the next board meeting, with a potential start date of Feb. 3.
Doctor Friedman, a district staff member who addressed the committee, said the hiring process involved three rounds of interviews and produced two finalists. "We are bringing a candidate forward for approval tomorrow night," Friedman said, adding that the finalist "believes that they can start on February 3rd."
The nominee emerged after a multi-step search: Friedman said the committee considered about 12 applicants and narrowed the field through interviews. Committee members asked for clarification about timing; Friedman corrected an initial reference to "tomorrow night" to indicate the approval will come at the board meeting on Thursday.
No formal vote or action on the hire took place during the committee meeting. Friedman said the committee and staff are "very confident that she will be a huge asset to the district" and that having an in-district communications leader will help lead the district's vision for communications.
The committee did not record a formal recommendation vote at the Jan. 21 meeting; the personnel item is slated for the upcoming board agenda and will be acted on by the full board.
Board members and staff framed the discussion as an update rather than a decision point for the committee.
