Beltrami County commissioners on an unanimous vote approved a resolution authorizing the emergency communications supervisor to accept overtime under defined conditions after the county’s public-safety answering point (PSAP) reported a critical staffing shortfall.
The action, approved 5-0, allows PSAP manager Janice Signa to fill shifts outside her standard 8 a.m.–4 p.m. schedule only after all other telecommunicators have rejected the shift or are scheduled to work it within three days, the resolution says. Sheriff Tyler described the change as a temporary measure while the office recruits and completes lengthy training for new hires.
